Safety at railway crossings is highly impacted by people not respecting the traffic regulations during train passages. The Dutch national rail operator Prorail operates 1.600 railway crossings and almost daily registers (near)-accidents. In March 2022 Prorail has awarded ARS Traffic & Transport Technology an exclusive contract for the provision and operation of a technology solution to monitor traffic safety at railway crossings and enforce violations by motorized traffic.
ARS Traffic & Transport Technology will apply her Scapeye camera based vision analytics and machine learning technology to automatically monitor traffic and detect violations. With the anticipated solution the number of violations and casualties is expected to decrease sharply.
