ORBIS Data Warehouse
Overview
ORBIS Data Warehouse is a Data as a Service (DaaS) solution to process, store and retrieve traffic data for analysis purposes. The real-time data is collected from various sensors, and from other sources such as Floating Car Data providers. Visualization of the stored data is available by using the ORBIS Viewer.
Solution advantages
High storage capacity
We own facilities with the storage capacity of billions of records. The data is processed to information that feeds into data warehouses and traffic management and traffic information systems. What is more, the data is well-protected and safe. Its ability to store the information does not require the installation of additional data storage systems.
High system availability
ARS T&TT implemented over 100.000 FCD sensors and over 20.000 road side sensors based on inductive loops, ANPR, radar and Bluetooth technology. The system employs various innovative concepts to ensure 99,99% operational availability. ARS guarantees this high performance through the combination of dependable software, the use of certified data centers and professional in-house service management.
User-friendly front-end
The ORBIS Viewer provides an easy way to interpret visualization of the data. There are multiple functionalities, defined in Viewer. For example “Rush hour”: the user can get an insight on speed variations during morning & evening rush hours. “Download data” – the user can get quick access (view/download) to data, generated for their custom selection of location/time/KPI.
Traffic prediction model
ORBIS provides real time traffic modelling and traffic predictions based on accumulated historical data. It is a supporting tool for infrastructure planning. ARS continuously improves the algorithms used for accurate predictions. ARS specializes in data fusion from different data sources.
Case study
National Data Warehouse
We have implemented traffic monitoring and data warehousing services for a multitude of clients since 2003. The Dutch National Data Warehouse (NDW) is the most extensive example so far, with nearly 10 million traffic data updates per day from locations all over the Netherlands. The data from NDW is distributed to all traffic information service providers and major road operators in the Netherlands.
